The Red Tree

In my class reading group our focus is on sophisticated picture books. A sophisticated picture book is a picture book, but the story is mostly told by the pictures. This week my picture book focus was on The Red Tree by Shaun Tan. This book is about a girl at home alone who as nothing to do. So she takes a journey through different places to try and find something to do. When the day finished she thought that it ended in the same way it started by it didn't because she finally found the red tree in her bedroom at home. Somethings I noticed in the book was that there was hidden characters that you probably wouldn't of seen the first time you read the book and also that there is a red leaf hidden on every single page. Here is a photo of the book:
See if you can spot the hidden characters on this page.

Fruit Kebabs

Last term it was cross country and we learnt a bit about keeping healthy and putting the right things (food) in your body so that it stays healthy. So each day when we had 1 serving of fruit we could colour in a gem from our treasure chest. Once the whole class had coloured in all their gems we could have a treat. The treat was fruit kebabs. We were each in small groups and we had to bring a sliced up piece of fruit each and we could share it between our group. The part I liked the best was eating them because they were very yummy.

Habitat Box

In room 14 we made habitat boxes. A habitat box is a box that has an animals habitat inside of it. My box is an african elephants habitat. The part of my habitat that i thought was the hardest to make was the background because I ripped the tissue paper really small so it was harder to stick on. I am proud of my whole box because it took me weeks to make and I put a
lot of effort and my time into making it.

Production 2015

In production I was a lead role, I played an alien that came from planet Zorb. The thing that I enjoyed the most about production was acting everything out and getting the chance to wear a cool costume. I think that to make the next production better would to be having all the students attend because not all of the student attended the night shows.I enjoyed the whole production but the one  culture I really enjoyed was the Pacific islands because there dances were beautiful.

enjoyed the most was watching the pacific islands dances.

Our School Production

On Wednesday and Thursday this week we are having our school production an alien adventure in Aotearoa. I was lucky and I got a lead role, I am playing an alien named zoop. I am on stage for most of the production but sometimes you might not see me on the stage. I am looking forward to everything but I am most looking forward to performing and acting everything out,But what I'm most nervous about is nothing cause I'm pretty confident.

Friendship Boxes

A friendship box is a mail box that has positive notes from our class mates. Each afternoon after bins duty we come back into class and write a draft of our friendship note, then when your done you check your note with the teacher and after that you publish it on to special paper to drop of to someone's mail box in class. The friendship boxes are used for helping us with our class goal about learning how to make friends and how to keep them, and with these note we are probably able to help us because we're telling people positive things about them and that will make them happy and make them want to be your friend. The trickiest part about making my mail box was hot gluing my little bits and planning it because I didn't know what I should do, and because we had a success criteria to follow, we couldn't of just adding anything on it.

Riding Into War

1. I have read to the end of the book,so what happened in the book was that billy he went to war and he lost a leg.And Billy's best mate Jack has past away and Jack is really upset.

2. The biggest event in the book was Billy losing a leg. It affected him because now he only has one leg so now he can't do stuff as fast and he life is now slower.

My Trirama

100 word challenge

What a horrible day. It all start when I was going for a stroll on a slimy tree stump then suddenly on the corner of my eye I see a shadow. As I turned around two MASIVE claws grabbed my head and started to fly off. As my eyes glanced up I realised that it was a bird. We started to land on the tree branch," I guess this isn't to bad", I said to myself. It wasn't to bad until they got a pot out. My heart beat raised until they asked me " would you like some soup" no I said.

Riding Into War

In my reading group we are reading a book called 'Riding Into War' by Susan Brocker.
Here are the questions that we had to answer.

1.In the book so far what has happened is that Billy (the main character) he was at training camp in Egypt with his horse Tui and his friends. And then he goes to leaves to go to war and he is sad because his horse cannot come with him.

2.The biggest event in the book so far is the landing of Gallipoi.

3.My literacy circle role is the passage picker it's when you have to pick a passage in the story that you think is funny or interesting. I have not done mine yet but i will do it.

4. I have not read to the end of the story but i predict that he or one of his friends is going to past away or get ill. And that he is going to receive a letter from a friend or family member that is died.

Room14's Field of Rememberance

In room 14 we made a field of rememberance. How we made our field of rememberance was we made our crosses in class and we put a soldiers name on it. Then Mrs Gunn and Mr Peachy measured out how big our field of rememberance  was and then we planted our crosses in the field of rememberance. We did this because we wanted to remember the people that gave up their life for us so that we could live free. If you want to visit our field of rememberance we have made at the  NZ flag.

Tabliods sports

My favourite event at tabloids was sack races because it was fun and I got to help the Juniors.
The hardest event was the radioactive waste because my team kept dropping water.
